We recognize that we're all quite busy with work and other family obligations but if we all pitch in and do a little, we'll be able to organize a reunion that is both memorable, fun and affordable for all of us without the need to hire a paid reunion planner.

We look forward to seeing you all at the reunion in October!

Mike Hird, Katy McDonald and I met in late Fall to discuss reunion planning. This morning before receiving Melanie's note, Mike and I spoke to get things going. We've agreed to establish a planning committee. We're tenatively looking at the October 2010 timeframe. The dates in mind are all on a Saturday night: October 2, 9 or 16th. The exact date will depend on venue. One possible venue that we're looking at is Karl Strauss Beer Gardens in Sorrento Valley as it is a beautiful facility with ample space, good food, free parking and more economical on a per person basis that holding it at a hotel. Also, I know the owner quite well as we were classmates in college. See related link: http://www.karlstrauss.com/PAGES/Eats/GroupEvents/Start.html

Anyway, the time has come to get things organized so if you, Melanie or other classmates are interested in getting involved please let me know.

Once we have an exact date and venue we'll be sending out a "Save the Date" email along with a link to the new CHS-Class of 1980 web page to provide classmates with reunion details.

Nothing is solid yet, but this gives you an idea of what our organizers are thinking.

WELCOME !

Welcome to the official blog of the Crawford High School Class of 1980 30th reunion. The purpose of this blog will be to update you on plans for the big event, and to provide an open forum for our community through the blog comments. While this blog is being maintained by Mark Polak, anyone who is involved in reunion planning may request posting privileges. You may email me at the address "bikeboy at gmail dot com".

Plans are just starting to gel for an October reunion. Richard Kiy, Mike Hird, and Katy McDonald are organizing the first planning meeting for Saturday March 20, 9 AM at the San Diego Hilton - Mission Bay. Richard Kiy has also started a facebook group, Crawford Class of 80, through which you can keep in touch with our plans.

There should be many postings at this site over the next few weeks, so check back frequently. After that, the posting level will probably be erratic, with a flurry of postings as the reunion approaches. I highly recommend subscribing through an RSS feed such as Google Reader, so you don't have to keep checking back.

I look forward to hearing from all of you and seeing you at the reunion!
